The WACE global challenge

This year, four CMTN students participated in the 12th World Association for Co-operative and Work-Integrated Education (WACE) global challenge, which ran from January 27 to February 21. Competing alongside students from across the globe, they worked to address the UN sustainable development goals (SDGs).

Their cross-cultural, multidisciplinary teams worked as consultants for real companies and organizations worldwide to help them meet one of the SDGs. During the competition, they spent 30 to 40 hours completing online workshops, the three-week project, and a final presentation.

Participants reflected that taking part in the challenge enhanced their understanding of sustainable business practices and ethics.

At the end of their first year, students participate in a work experience program where they can apply what they have learned in a real-life situation. The program is offered in partnership with Vancouver Island University (VIU) and the resulting diploma is received from VIU. For further guidance, students can connect with an international student advisor.
