Practical Nursing program opens to international student applications

CMTN is on track to bring the Practical Nursing Diploma Program back to the College, pending a final seal of approval from the BC College of Nurses and Midwives. Both domestic and international applications are now being accepted for classes commencing in October.
Most components of the two-year program will be available in a scheduled online format. Students can take the in-person lab sections at the CMTN Terrace or Prince Rupert campus, and in future years the program will also be available through the Smithers campus. Graduates will be qualified to write the Regulatory Exam - Practical Nurse (Rex-PN) and become certified by the BC College of Nurses and Midwives.
Admission requirements
Prospective international applicants are encouraged to complete the admission and practicum requirements as soon as possible. Step one includes completion of senior secondary education, senior secondary math (minimum 60%), English 12 or equivalent (minimum 65%), senior secondary biology (minimum 60%), IELTS or CELBAN language proficiency (IELTS: speaking 7.0, listening 7.5, reading 6.5, writing 7.0, overall 7.0; CELBAN: speaking 8.0, listening 10.0, reading 8.0, writing 7.0), and the CMTN supplementary course PNUR 103 (minimum 65%).
Step two includes a criminal record check, immunization records, a negative TB skin test or X-ray, and CPR Level C.
